Freeholder Lucylle (Lucy) R. S. Walter was appointed to the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders in October of 1998 and is currently serving in the third year of her second term. She has served as Vice-Chair in 2001 and in 2002 as Chairperson of the Board. Prior to her service on the Freeholder Board she has served her community in other offices. These include serving as school board member in her home community of Ewing Township, as well as serving on the Planning Board and Site Review Committee. She has also served on the Commission on the Status of Women and Board’s of School Estimate for the Vocational Schools and the Special Service School District. In addition, she is also the Employer Outreach Director for the NJ ESGR and was nominated by Brigadier General Robert Dutko. She has managed youth soccer teams, served as state manager for her school district and assisted various community groups with civic projects and community advocacy. She is especially proud to honor her Italian heritage through her membership in The Order of the Sons of Italy and her commitment to women through membership in Soroptimist International of Trenton. She is a lifetime member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She has recently been appointed to the PAL of Trenton. Lucy has a Masters degree from the College of New Jersey and is employed as a teacher of Special Education at Pennsbury High School in Bucks County. She is in her twenty-third year of marriage to Tom Walter and has three children: Melanie, Richard, and Samantha. She is currently serving as Chair of the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders for the year 2008.
