Thursday, November 13, 2008 Thank You for a Resounding Victory! It is hard to believe that it has been just over a week since the election. You made history in America and you did it through the hard work of reaching out to your friends, family and just about everyone you could speak to. In my own race I was humbled by the huge outpouring of support. Together we won 12 of Mercer's 13 municipalities and won over 60% of the vote! Despite the negativity of our opponents, we kept the election about you and the future of our great county. |
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 One day to go: have you gotten involved yet?I would like to take this opportunity to continue sharing with you how excited I am about the election tomorrow! If you feel like you want to give a little something more to the campaigns before time runs out, there is still time to get involved, and a variety of different ways you can do so.
Here's how... |
Friday, October 10, 2008 Voter Registration Deadline ApproachingI came across an article this past week about how New Jersey residents are registering to vote at a record pace this year. Have you joined their ranks yet? I encourage and remind those of you who have not yet registered to vote to please do so before this Tuesday, October 14th, the deadline for registration in New Jersey. You can print up a form here. If you know anyone who hasn't registered, please remind them as well that time is running out.
Whether it be property taxes, foreign policy, the economy, or education, you have the power to affect the issues that you think are most important in your everyday lives. Please take this opportunity to get involved, as citizens across America have chosen to get involved in a way we haven't seen in a long time. Register to vote today. Don't let this historic election, and your chance to be a part of it, pass you by. |
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 Fired up in PrincetonLast Saturday, I again had the opportunity to stop by the Obama headquarters in West Windsor Township. It was a beautiful day out- perfect for canvassing! There were many volunteers there, all hoping to work for both national and local Democratic campaigns. I was there with my fellow Freeholder Lucylle Walter. Many local and state Democrats were there, including State Party Chairman Joseph Cryan, who you can see in the photo below.

Wednesday, August 06, 2008 National Night OutA number of towns celebrated National Night Out last night opening up police stations and community areas to the public. The events were held, as described in the Times of Trenton article, with:
"Hundreds of residents and law enforcement officials gathered in local parks, at municipal buildings or on their own steps to send a message to potential hoodlums: Keep your crime out of here. As part of National Night Out -- a celebration aimed at bolstering unity within municipalities in order to deter crime -- various communities across Mercer County yesterday held mock "block parties" to show their spirit and opposition to criminal behavior." |
Monday, August 04, 2008 Celebrating Mercer's Puerto Rican CommunityThis past Sunday, the Puerto Rican Parade of Trenton held their annual fest through the streets of Trenton. Starting from Trenton Central High School to the steps of City Hall, the parade route was filled will families celebrating an important part of our County's and Capitol City's diverse community. Each year the parade committee and its volunteers work very hard to pull off this great event.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 Visiting the East Ward in TrentonI am often in the East Ward in Trenton to visit my wife's family who lives there. Last night I was visiting the East Ward Democratic Club as they met at the Bethany Presbyterian Church on the corner of Hamilton and Chestnut Avenues. Many of the local Democratic committeemen and women attend to represent their neighborhood and report on the issues their residents face. Whether it is general quality of life issues, updating the group on activities of the local civic association, or particular constituent questions about the status of a local street project, these meetings are a great way for me to learn more about local issues. |
Friday, June 20, 2008 Saluting the Class of 2008One of the honors of being a Freeholder is the opportunity to present scholarships to well-deserved high school seniors at the various Awards Nights at each of the 11 high schools in Mercer County. I have often done this in Hamilton as a Councilman or in my role as President of the Hamilton Kiwanis Club. This past Wednesday, I was pleased to be presenting the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholder's Mercer County Community College Scholarship for a student at Hopewell Valley Central High School. |
Thursday, June 19, 2008 Closing in on the First 100In just a week, I will reach my first 100 days on the Freeholder Board. It is a privilege serving the people of Mercer County. I have been to every municipality in Mercer as Freeholder attending various community events. From Princeton's Communiversity, to Eagle Scout and Gold Award Ceremonies in Robbinsville and Pennington, to Memorial Day remembrances in Hamilton, I have had the chance to talk to residents about the role of the Freeholders in their County government and the issues with which you are most concerned. |
